There's been a communication problem

Why don't we talk more?

It's probably because they're bad at keeping in touch. That and the fact that I seem to have accepted a lack of communication as a sort of endearing "quality" in certain people I know. It makes me laugh, for some reason.

Distance seems to be the trigger for making an effort.

The further away I get from them geographically, the more urgent the need to speak once or twice more often - to maintain an emotional closeness. Until the extra miles are, inevitably, absorbed into normality.

Then, when we do speak, it's a This is your Life run-down of all of the big things that have happened in the last several months. All feels a bit braggy if you ask me;

"OK, MY TURN!"
